Scripture: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33 (ESV)
Good morning.
Before you check your email.
Before you scroll social media.
Before you look at the news.
Before you start worrying about everything that needs to get done today.
Pause for a moment.
Take a breath.
Remember this simple truth: God is already here.
Many of us begin our days reacting. We react to notifications, deadlines, responsibilities, problems, and expectations. Before our feet have fully hit the floor, our minds are already racing toward everything demanding our attention.
Jesus offers a different way.
In Matthew 6, Jesus speaks to people who were worried about their future, their needs, and their circumstances. His answer wasn’t to ignore reality. It wasn’t to pretend problems didn’t exist. Instead, He called them to reorder their priorities.
“Seek first the kingdom of God.”
Not second.
Not after the inbox is cleared.
Not after the kids are fed.
Not after the meeting.
First.
There is something powerful about giving God the first moments of our day. It reminds our hearts who is truly in control. It shifts our focus from what we cannot manage to the One who holds all things together.
The demands of today will still be there in a few minutes. The emails will wait. The responsibilities will wait. The noise will wait.
But right now, before anything else, choose to be with Him.
Not because He needs your attention.
Because you need His presence.
Prayer
Father,
Before I give my attention to anything else today, I want to give it to You.
Thank You for another day of life. Thank You for Your faithfulness that carried me through yesterday and Your mercy that meets me again this morning.
There are things on my mind already. Responsibilities. Decisions. Worries. Expectations. Things I can control and things I cannot. It would be easy to spend this day chasing peace instead of receiving it from You.
Help me seek You first.
Remind me that You are not waiting for me at the finish line of today. You are walking with me through every moment of it.
Give me wisdom where I need direction, courage where I feel hesitant, patience where I feel rushed, and faith where I feel uncertain.
May my words honor You, my actions reflect You, and my heart remain close to You.
Before the noise.
Before the pressure.
Before the distractions.
I choose You first.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
