Before the world gets your attention, spend a little time with the One who gave you another day.
Most mornings don’t begin quietly.
Before we’re fully awake, there are notifications to check, emails waiting, schedules to manage, people who need us, decisions to make, and plenty of things to worry about.
It doesn’t take long for the noise of the day to take over.
With Him First exists as an invitation to begin differently.
Not with your inbox.
Not with the headlines.
Not with everything demanding something from you.
But with Him.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:33 to “seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” That’s the simple idea behind everything you’ll find here.
Each devotional is designed to give you a few minutes to slow down, open Scripture, reflect honestly, pray, and turn your attention toward Jesus before carrying everything else the day may bring.
This isn’t about creating another religious obligation to check off your list. And it certainly isn’t about pretending that spending a few minutes with God every morning will suddenly make life easy.
It’s about relationship.
It’s about learning to recognize His presence in ordinary life.
It’s about bringing our worries, questions, failures, hopes, responsibilities, and unfinished parts of ourselves before God and allowing His Word to shape how we walk into the day ahead.
Some mornings that may mean being challenged.
Other mornings it may mean being encouraged.
And sometimes it may simply mean sitting quietly and remembering that God is God, and we are not.
That’s enough.
About Alex
I’m Alex Hall, the writer behind With Him First.
I’m an author and ministry leader, but I’m also someone who desperately needs the grace of Jesus every single day.
I don’t write these devotionals from the perspective of someone who has figured out the Christian life. I’m walking it too.
There are days when trusting God comes easily and days when it doesn’t. There are prayers I’ve watched God answer and others I’m still praying. There are moments when Scripture feels alive in my hands and others when following Jesus simply means choosing to remain faithful when I don’t have all the answers.
That’s part of why I started With Him First.
I wanted to create the kind of place I need myself: somewhere to slow down, get away from the noise for a few minutes, open God’s Word, and remember what matters most.
My hope isn’t simply that you’ll read something here every morning.
My hope is that eventually you won’t need a devotional to remind you to seek Him.
You’ll simply want to.
So tomorrow morning, before the emails, before the meetings, before the headlines, before the pressure and before the noise:
Be with Him first.
